Breast Pumps and Accessories

What are Hygeia personal accessory sets made of?
Our flanges, storage containers, and any other Hygeia product that comes in contact with breast milk are made of BPA-free Polypropylene designed specifically for use in skin contacting conditions.
Where are your breast pumps and components made?
As for most companies, components for our products are made all over the world. Final assembly, QC, packaging, and labeling occurs in the USA.
I’ve heard that personal breast pumps are not safe for sharing, what makes Hygeia pumps different?
Many breast pumps are designated “personal use only,” meaning that they can only be used by one mother due to the risk of mold and viruses entering the pump. Hygeia pumps have a filter to protect against any cross-contamination, and are safe for multiple users, as long as each user has her own Personal Accessory Set.
I’m concerned with phthalates and about BPA exposure; are Hygeia’s personal accessory sets and storage containers BPA-free?
Yes! All of Hygeia’s storage containers and parts that come in contact with breast milk have always been BPA/DEHP free.
How are Hygeia’s breast pumps eco-friendly?
Hygeia’s electric breast pumps are designed with reusability and long-term use in mind, which is why they come with a one warranty and are registered as multi-user devices. After a mom is done with her pump, she can safely pass it on to a sister or a friend as long as each mom has her own Personal Accessory Set.
Do Hygeia pumps have “two phases”?
Hygeia has many phases, more than just two!  Hygeia pumps have fully independently adjustable speed and strength controls, so moms can find their most effective personal pumping setting. We know that every mom is different so our pumps are totally customizable to fit a mom’s personal preferences.
How do I know what flange size to use?

Properly fitting flanges are important for both comfort and efficient pumping. While pumping, your nipple should move freely in and out of the flange tunnel, and there should be no rubbing or sticking on the sides or back of the flange. All of your nipple should fit into the flange tunnel, and if you feel any nipple discomfort or pain while pumping, even on low suction, it is often a sign that you need a larger flange.

Some moms find that they need a different flange size on each breast and their sizing can change over time. Nipple blanching (turning white) at the base of the nipple while pumping is another indicator that your flange may be too small. Keep in mind that flange size is not related to your breast size, but rather the size of your nipples.

Some moms will experience nipple swelling while pumping, so it’s important to observe your nipples during a pumping session to check for correct flange sizing.

The warranty excludes internal batteries, external battery packs and batteries, power supplies, Personal Accessory Sets and Bacteriostatic Filters.

If you believe your Hygeia electric breast pump has a defect in materials or workmanship within the warranty period (with valid proof of purchase), please contact Hygeia Customer Care at 714-515-7571 extension 1 for assistance or reach out on our website.

What are the limitations of your warranty?
The Hygeia warranty does not apply to defects resulting from any customer actions, such as mishandling and product abuse, dropping the pump, knocking the pump over, improper interfacing, operation outside of design limits, misapplication, improper repair, or unauthorized modification. No other warranties are expressed or implied. Hygeia specifically disclaims any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a specific purpose. Hygeia’s liability shall be limited to the actual purchase price of any defective unit or units of equipment to which a claim is made, and shall in no event include the customer’s lost profits or goodwill, or any other direct, indirect, special, incidental or consequential damages whether on contract, tort or other legal theory.
What do I do if I’m having trouble with my pump?

Call Hygeia Customer Care at 714-515-7571 extension 1 for assistance or reach out on our website.  Customer Care will first try to resolve your issue with detailed troubleshooting. Should troubleshooting not resolve the problem, Customer Care will provide a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number for the return of the defective product.

If your pump is defective, it will be replaced with another pump of the same model. If, while repairing your product, it is deemed defective due to improper use of the pump or damage (including dropping the pump or inadequate packaging of the pump for shipping) you will be charged a $150 fee and a $25 shipping charge.

What is your return policy?

A very high percentage of issues are resolved over the phone when moms call in with questions about their pump. If you have an issue, please have your pump ready, call us and hopefully we can take care of it right away. If the product has been open and/or used and is functioning, it cannot be returned for credit.  Hygeia will authorize a return when the following conditions are met:

1) The customer has called in, with the pump and followed troubleshooting protocols over the phone with our customer care center.

2) The pump performance is determined to warrant replacement under our warranty.

When the above conditions have been met, Hygeia will send out a return label at our expense to you and send you a replacement pump.  Hygeia does not accept returns without the above conditions being met.  Standard Ground shipping costs for the return of the defective product for repair will be the responsibility of Hygeia (unless the repair was not covered by warranty). Overnight delivery is available at an additional cost. Hygeia must receive the defective product within 7 days of issued RMA. It is your responsibility to package your pump appropriately so no damage will occur during transit (i.e. covered with bubble wrap, flexible film, and foam). If inadequate packaging is used and the product arrives damaged, the warranty will be void and the repair will be charged accordingly.

Unopened and unused products can be returned to Hygeia with payment of a $75 restocking fee that will be collected and charged to the customer’s credit card. Once the fee is paid, a return label will be sent and the pump will be examined by our quality control department. If it passes quality inspection and the pump is unused and unopened, we will credit the payment made by the insurance company.

Do you have a restocking fee?

Yes, we have a restocking fee of $75.
